Our new renewable power system – The “sew” must go on!
Up to now, the big talking point has been the completion of our renewable power system. At the end of last year, Winelands Solar installed solar panels on our roof space, enabling us to add battery storage to the existing inverters. The Academy can now function without interruption during loadshedding (another yay!). We have maintained ESKOM supply as back-up during the Cape rainy season.
Fully-Paved Grounds with a 20m Fashion Show Ramp
Students and staff arriving back from the Easter holidays could hardly believe their eyes. During their absence, the grounds were paved, and we now have a level mud-free parking area (“yay!” from those who like to wear heels), just in time for the rainy season. This continues the transformation started when Elizabeth, our late founder, had the buildings strikingly painted in our corporate colours of yellow and grey. The inclusion of a contrasting 20 meter long fashion show ramp ensures that a show can happen at the drop of a hat!
