On the 16th of May our BA 2 class went to visit the textile printing facility, Imaterial Textile Printers (Instagram: @imaterial_textiles) in Maitland. This trip was organised to assist them with a swimwear and co-ordinate design project with the theme “Joyful Fruit” in which they are exploring different patterns and prints.
During their tour of the factory, the students were shown the process of digital, rotary and screen printing. To the students’ delight they each had a chance to do some screen printing under the guidance of Imaterial staff. Additionally, students had a look through various swatches of natural fibre fabrics.
