The most expensive …
Last week comparative website Hippo.co.za listed the most expensive items in a number of categories on their blog.
This made me wonder about some more items we use every day, and regard as fairly expensive. How costly are they really, compared to the standards of the super-rich?
Here is a list to drool over:
1: The most expensive wrist watch in the world

Patek Philippe 5004T
Produced as a one-of-a-kind model in 2013 for an auction, it is the only titanium version of the no longer produced reference 5004 watch collection. Patek Philippe created this sportier look for the 5004 dress watch as a way to say farewell to the otherwise conservative collection. The 5004T sold at auction in 2013 for about $3,985,000.
2: Cellular Phone

Diamond Rose iPhone 4 32GB
The world’s most expensive iPhone to date is the 32 GB iPhone 4 Diamond Rose by Stuart Hughes. The phone’s bezel is made of rose gold and approximately 500 individual flawless diamonds totaling over 100ct. The back is also rose gold and features the Apple logo with 53 additional diamonds, while the front navigation button is platinum with interchangeable single cut 7.4ct pink or rare 8ct Flawless diamonds in the center. Price: $8 million
3: Sunglasses

Chopard De Rigo Vision Sunglasses
The most expensive sunglasses in the world are by Swiss luxury company Chopard in collaboration with luxury glasses manufacturer De Rigo Vision. The tip ends of these glasses are made from 60 grams of 24 carat gold, and the arms trimmed with dotted gold. The company’s signature ‘C’ on the temple is surrounded by 51 full-cut River diamonds totaling 4 carats. Price tag: $408,000
4: Perfume

live Christian Imperial Majesty
Correct, not Chanel No.5. When this fragrance was introduced in 2006, it displaced Clive Christian No.1 from the top spot of expensive perfumes. It is sold in the finest polished Baccarat crystal bottle at a price of over $12,700 per ounce.
It can only be bought in a 16.90 ounce bottle, though ($215,000). Just for the record, some have been sold, apparently to a Chinese businessman who wants to remain anonymous!
And as the winter is fast approaching,
5: Umbrella

Swaine Adeney Brigg Men’s Malacca Flask Umbrella
This decadent Brigg umbrella features a Malacca cane two piece handle with a fitted screw-in drinking flask. The canopy is available in black hand-woven silk or nylon, and the rib frame is of very high tensile strength in order to withstand very strong wind. The shaft is made of Tulip wood and there is a silver plated Royal Warrant collar which of can be personalized with initials upon request. Price: $1,270
If all of this has left you a little dry in the mouth, you may want a cup of coffee.
6: The world’s most expensive Coffee Machine

Javabot
This incredible appliance can be found at The Roasting Plant, a high end café with branches in Detroit and New York. Fresh beans are normally roasted daily. Each time a cup of coffee is ordered the required beans are ground and brewed on the spot. I do not know what they charge for an espresso, but the machine costs a cool $1million.
