Daisy Jo Grobler from Ladybrand in the Free State has just won herself a three year fashion design scholarship at the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design, to the value of R200 000.
This Yeshua College matric learner’s design for a white shirt was chosen from 24 entries received in the 2012 Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design and YOU Fashion Scholarship competition.
According to the judges, Daisy Jo’s very professional submission immediately stood out in terms of creativity, versatility, style, attention to detail and presentation. She had also done far more than was asked of her, designing a number of garments.
YOU Magazine has asked Daisy to design an outfit for Lady Gaga. The result was highly original and totally South African! (See page 98 of YOU, 30 August 2012).
Daisy Jo Grobler will commence her studies at Elizabeth Galloway in 2013. We will be following her very promising career with interest.
