2010 Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design alumna Jane Kotzé was announced the winner of the 2012 Mr Price & Elle Rising Star Design Award at a gala event in Johannesburg on the 13th of September, beating off stiff competition from seven other finalists (among whom former classmate Anmari Honiball).
The flowing feminine designs in fresh pastel colours were beautifully finished with beaded embellishment, displaying Jane’s characteristic meticulous attention to detail.
Jane has a diploma in interior design, and previously studied drama and consumer science before enrolling at Elizabeth Galloway. The high standard she set for herself and her work quickly became evident, and her graduate collection was judged Most Commercial Range of that year.
She received a cash prize of R25 000, and as additional part of the award, will be given the opportunity to start her own label, as well as benefit from a mentorship program designed to provide fashion, business and industry knowledge.
Says Jane, “This is an amazing opportunity to be seen and have input from industry.” Given her positive attitude and wonderful talent, this woman is certain to conquer the fashion world.
