Spring has finally arrived in the Western Cape and with it the first rock festival of the season.

This weekend music lovers are flocking up the west coast to Darling for the annual Rocking the Daisies outdoor event.

So what does one take along? Obviously a hat, sunglasses and a blanket to sit on (or sleep under) will all come in handy, but what will make you stand out from the crowd?

You do not have to wear hot pants or floral headbands, something more practical is allowed!

A warm jacket/slouchy jumper is essential. The days are not really that warm yet, and evenings can be downright chilly.

Footwear should allow you to walk all day and dance all night without discomfort. The less time you have to spend thinking about your clothes, the more time there is for having fun!

Here are some of the outfits seen at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California (sunny and warm) and Glastonbury Festival in Somerset (cool and muddy, bring the Hunters) earlier this year. How does South African festival style compare?
